ORIGIN
Doctor Drake Gordon is on a passenger freighter bound for the South
Seas when the ship is hit by a typhoon. Dr. Gordon is swept onto an
unknown island on which, at the top of a huge mountain, is a Buddhist
monastery. Entering the monastery, Drake encounters a monk, who gives
Dr. Gordon a black diamond, which had been discovered thousands of years
ago by an Egyptian who used the diamond for good. The diamond was stolen
from the Egyptian and was used for wicked ends until it disappeared,
only to be found many years later by the monk. He kept it until he could
find someone who would use its powers to rid the world of evildoers.
The old monk sees in Drake a good man and offers him the black diamond.
Dr. Gordon accepts the diamond and goes back to the world
to fight crime., DOCTOR DIAMOND, as Drake now calls himself. He creates
a skimpy costume and goes forth to do good deeds and to fight the evils
of the world.
