Hercules, strongest man in all of history, earned a place on Mount Olympus by wiping out the evils of ancient Greece. Now Zeus has ordered him back to Earth to rid the modern world of wars, gangsters and racketeers. This day Hercules will become a modern day champion of justice! June 1940: Hercules suddenly appears in the center of a modern city. Bewildered for a moment, he staggers into a busy street as a truck speeds towards him! Hercules, thinking the truck is a dragon, attacks it! A police officer cries, "Waddaya think you're doing!" With one hand Hercules swings the cop aloft "Who are you little man?" asks Hercules as the cop dangles from above! From out of the crowd steps a shrewd promoter of vaudeville acts "Better set him down, big boy! You're in for trouble, but maybe I can help out," he offers. Hercules ends up in court but the promoter convinces the courts of Hercules’ good will and offers to give Hercules a job if the judge release him under the promoter’s custody. And so Hercules becomes a stage strongman, and the promoter becomes his friend and agent. One audience member at Hercules’ performance is the mob boss Leo Nymia, lion of the underworld. He offers Hercules a job, but Hercules tells the mobster that he only uses his strength for good. Just then Hercules thwarts a hit on Nymia by a rival mob boss Scabroni and becomes Nymia’s an unwitting benefactor. When Hercules’ agent offers Nymia the Olympian’s contract for five thousand dollars, Nymia thinks this is too much money and has the agent gunned down. The enraged Hercules kills Nymia and wipes out his whole gang. Afterwards, Hercules remarks "After slaying the lion of Nemea I wore his pelt as a garment. Now in this modern world, I shall wear the clothing of the lion of the underworld!" Thereafter Hercules hides his costume underneath Nymia’s clothes, so he can move freely about his new home in America! |
