Firebrand IV

    Danette Reilly, girlfriend to Dr. Terry Curtis, is a vulcanologist, studying a volcanic island on which she encounters the master criminal Per Degaton. Per Degaton and his allies, who are using the island as a base for their illicit activities, capture her. Danette is struck by a mystical bolt of lightning, fired by Degaton’s ally Wotan, which surrounds her with a strange green aura. She falls into a vat of artificial lava that Degaton had placed nearby. Astoundingly, she survives this encounter and gains control over the fire that surrounds her. Also, she can shoot fire from her hands and fly due to her new powers. She adopts the name of Firebrand after her brother Rod Reilly, who is the original Firebrand (see individual entry), temporarily gives up that guise due to an injury sustained in fighting during the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941.
