And here is another file on an altogether different "parallel
Earth," which contains the story of yet another American patriot. General Glory |

One fateful day in France during World War II, P.F.C. Joe Jones and his company are felled by an experimental Nazi nerve gas lobbed at them in the heat of battle. But Joe Jones does not surrender to the heavy hand of death. And then he hears it...the ghostly strains of an old familiar song, playing as gently as a breeze, but with an intensity that stirs his very heart and soul. Joe Jones sees the vision of Lady Liberty, defender of the weak and powerless. She speaks to him: "In my hands I hold the torch that lights the way in this time of darkness...the Torch of Freedom. Read from the words inscribed on my tablet that I hold, and you will be transformed into America's favorite son, the greatest hero our nation has ever known." And Joe Jones read the words aloud, "Lady Liberty, hear my plea...for the land of the brave and the home of the free." As he finishes speaking the words chiseled on Lady Liberty's precious stone Joe is transformed--this day he becomes General Glory. The General fought the Nazi menace in Europe alongside a young orphaned boy named Ernest J. Ernest, who becomes his lifelong friend and partner. General Glory and Ernie are America's champions of truth, freedom, and justice. |
