Commander Steel

    U.S. Marine Henry (Hank) Heywood is guarding his military base when saboteurs try to blow it up. Hank is caught in the explosion and gravely wounded. His friend Dr. Giles has invented a procedure he calls the "bioretardant," which can possibly save Hank. Seeing that he is going to die from his wounds anyway, Hank convinces Dr. Giles to use the process on him. After a series of painful operations, Hank Heywood emerges a "new" man, part human, part machine. Hank now has incredible strength and is virtually indestructible due to the metal parts in his body and the armor mesh in the uniform he now wears. He also carries a modified flare gun. Thus is born America's new defender of freedom, Commander Steel.
