Clark Savage Jr. is born just after the turn of the century on the schooner Orion, in the waters off Andros Island. When the boy is 14 months old, his father Clark Savage Sr. starts him on a regimen of learning and exercise which will turn young Clark into a veritable superman. When fully grown, Clark Savage will stand just less than seven feet tall with golden bronze skin and dark bronze hair. He possesses eyes that are like "gold flakes," and he just falls short of being the smartest man alive. So great are his accomplishments that he is given several degrees and the title of "doctor" to denote his medical, mental, and spiritual skills. "Doc" Savage, as he is known, inhabits the 86th floor of New York's tallest skyscraper. Here with his band of helpers, he aids those in need whenever he can. Clark Savage, the "Man of Bronze," also has a cousin, Patricia Savage, who, while not quite Doc’s match, is nonetheless a physical and mental marvel. Doc is aided by the "Five" who are as follows: Col. John (Renny) Renwick an engineer; Prof. William Harper (Johnny) Littlejohn, an archeologist and geologist; electrical expert Maj. Thomas J. (Long Tom) Roberts; the lawyer, Brig. Gen. Theodore Marley (Ham) Brooks; and Lt. Col. Andrew Blodgett (Monk) Mayfair, a chemist. Together, these five, along with Pat Savage, fight alongside Doc throughout the world whenever a threat to mankind appears. (See our links section for more on The Avenger and Doc Savage). |
