December 1941 Little Katie Conn and her mean and abusive Uncle Jake are walking down the railroad yard when up drives Captain David Merrywether (alias the Cat-Man) and offers them a ride. Unknown to Captain Merrywether, Katie's Uncle Jake is about to rob him. When David asks about the relationship of the man and the little girl, Jake lies and says she is his stepdaughter and then pulls a gun on David for a stick-up! Forcing David out of the car, he makes Katie go through David's pockets in search of money. Reluctant to do this, Katie fights back at her bad uncle, giving David time to strike the criminal uncle unconscious. While on the way to turn Katie's uncle over to the police, David discovers that Jake had been mistreating her ever since he was given custody of the girl after her circus acrobat parents were accidentally killed. Later on, David is given "temporary custody" of little Katie, and soon the brave little girl discovers that David is the Cat-Man. After doing so, she decides to join him as Kitten, the feline fury. Dressing up in a costume like Cat-Man's, she's soon at work, battling thugs and spies. Later in their careers, some event takes place that ages little Katie Conn into a full-grown young woman with powers like Cat-Man’s. At this point, the one-time admiration that Katie had for David is now a case of true love! The Cat Crimefighters continue on as a team for many years fighting bizarre villains and righting wrongs. |
