    September 1940: Roy, a shoeshine boy, sees some thugs viciously working over their victim and jumps into the fray. Just when the thugs are going to grab Roy too, the Wizard (see individual entry) comes to his aid. Defeating the thugs, the Wizard adopts Roy and trains him to fight crime and injustice as Roy the Superboy. The two partners battle fifth columnists, mobsters, and such fiends as the Purple Mafia and the Jingler. Roy also teams up with the Shield’s partner Dusty the Boy Detective (see individual entry) as the Boy Buddies. In addition, the Wizard and Roy the Superboy also teamed up with the Shield and Dusty the Boy Detective. Roy's last name remains unknown.
