Copperhead

Capitol City, California, 1940...

Young Bob Wayne calls on Governor Bronson, his friend and guardian at the State House. Bronson tells Wayne that long ago in Arizona, he and Robert Wayne, Bob’s father, were good friends on the Bronson family cattle ranch. A series of raids devastated the local ranchers. To the rescue came a masked rider, the Copperhead, who ran to earth the crooks and brought order and justice to those parts. Believed to be an outlaw, the Copperhead would leave small copper snakes upon the scene of his exploits. When Bob Wayne asks what this has to do with him, Governor Bronson reveals that the Copperhead was Bob’s father. The Governor then gives Bob Wayne the Copperhead’s mask of the Copperhead and tells him that the mysterious Dr. Satan has threaten to kill Bronson for interfering with the evil doctor’s plans. Bob wishes the Governor well and departs. Just after Wayne leaves, Corbey, one of Dr. Satan’s henchmen, bursts into the Governor's office and shoots him. Bob Wayne recalls his guardian’s prophecy that if the Copperhead were alive he would stop Dr. Satan. Wayne decides to become the new Copperhead, and bring to justice this mysterious Dr. Satan while clearing his father’s name.

Arriving back at Governor Bronson's office, Bob Wayne finds Corbey standing over his victim. Bob springs into action and overcomes the killer. At police headquarters, Bob and the Chief of Police have Corbey spilling his guts, when ace shutterbug Speed Martin and reporter Lois Scott of the Capitol City Tribune enter the room just in time to hear Corbey's confession. The mysterious Dr. Satan speaks to them all from a control disk that Corbey wears and tells them that he intends to capture the inventor Thomas Scott (father of Lois Scott). Then, before their eyes the doctor electrocutes his henchman through the harness that he wears. Bob Wayne is deputized to help out. Thus begins the adventure as the Copperhead, aided by Speed Martin, Lois Scott, and Alice Brent, Thomas Scott's daring assistant, battle all of Dr. Satan's evil schemes. Dr. Satan eventually forces Scott to make a remote control cell to power the mastermind’s metal robot. But this very robot kills his maker, ending the threat of the mysterious Dr. Satan once and for all. The Copperhead was instrumental in bringing the evil genius’ downfall and clearing his father’s name.
