And here is an unusual entry for the villainess files.
This is the final transmission of my report on...

The Harlequin

The vivacious redheaded Harlequin, outfitted in striped tights and Elizabethan collar, fights the Green Lantern (I) (see individual entry) to a standstill, proving that she is the perfect match for him. In an ironic coincidence, she and Alan Scott (the Green Lantern) work side by side every day at radio station WXYZ--he as the program director, while she, Molly Maynne, is Alan's secretary. Of course, neither suspects the truth about the other. It’s love at first sight for Molly. "I never had a date because I was too athletic. No man could beat me in sports. I had to hide my talents and become a mousy secretary. Now for the first time, I meet the Green Lantern, my match, and he has no time for me.... Only for crooks!"...And so Molly decides to become the colorful Harlequin in order to attract Green Lantern's attention.

The lady crime-wave sports a pair of mask-like spectacles that can create illusions and an eye-searing glare that renders her opponents momentarily blind. In addition, she carries a harlequin's mandolin that houses 101 gimmicks for checkmating the Green Lantern.

As often as she battles against the Green Lantern, she also fights side by side with him. Eventually Molly becomes the government agent known as H-9. Not truly evil, in the end, the Harlequin is a force for good in the world.
