Here is the tragic tale of one of the more notorious heroes ever to fight crime.
This is the profile on...

The Hangman

Kidnapped by mistake by Big Boy Malone and his gang, Robert Dickering is hustled into a car to meet certain death! The gangster and his cronies think they have captured Robert’s brother John Dickering (the Comet, see individual entry), who has turned in evidence to the police that could put Malone away in jail for a long time. As Robert is being forced into the automobile, down swoops the Comet to rescue his brother. The hoods reply by letting out a deadly hail of lead, but not before the Comet can use his dissolvo vision to disable the getaway car and send it crashing into a lamp post while Robert makes good his escape. Robert rushes to his mortally wounded brother. Bob Dickering takes John’s nearly lifeless body back to the Dickering lab, where Thelma Gordon, newswoman and John's girlfriend, is waiting for the brothers. As he lies dying on a couch, the Comet speaks his last words, asking Bob and Thelma to carry on his life's work. Then he expires, disintegrating before their very eyes! Grief-stricken, Bob solemnly vows to avenge his brother and all those who are victims of violence wrought by the evil elements of society. On that day the Hangman is born!

Working out to obtain a peak physical condition and using his great scientific skills, the Hangman, aided by Thelma Gordon, begins his war on crime and corruption. The Hangman's agility and cunning serve him well against his foes. But the Hangman s not an executioner; rather, he is a man of justice who believes in the law and what it stands for. In keeping with his principles, the Hangman tries to bring the fiends he faces to meet justice at the hands of the law. The Hangman's career is an incredible journey and a testament to his brother, the Comet.
