Our next young hero took tragedy
and used it as the basis for doing good. Chuck |
| Chuck Marley was devastated. Mobsters had just killed his father, and now he was an orphan. John Perry, hard-hitting gossip columnist for the Daily Claridon, who was a very good friend of Chuck's father, takes the young orphaned boy in as his ward. Chuck is told John Perry's greatest secret, that he is the crime-fighting Black Fury (see individual entry for Black Fury), scourge of the underworld. Black Fury makes an identical costume for Chuck and trains him to be his helper in his war on crime. Now Chuck wears the skull and crossbones upon his chest as a warning to all the evil miscreants of their ultimate fate. The Black Fury and Chuck possess no super-powers. Though they are often seen being blown up, shot at, and doomed to certain death, they somehow always manage to emerge unscathed. |
