# 711
...Criminal at large

Dan Dyce is a good man. He has a friend who looks just like him sentenced to life in prison. While Dan Dyce visits his friend in his cell, the friend shows remorse for his crime. Most of all he regrets not being with his wife who is soon to have their child. The friend pleads with Dan to switch places with him so he can witness his baby’s birth. Dan Dyce agrees to go along with the risky scheme. So the criminal switches clothes with Dan and strolls out of jail a free man, while Dan remains behind, pretending to be his friend. Unfortunately for Dan, he has done too good a job of impersonating his friend, since everyone believes him to be the genuine article. And Dan Dyce's friend never returns. Now stuck in jail, Dan discovers a way to get in and out of prison without being caught. Using the jail as his headquarters, Dan Dyce becomes the masked man, #711, which is his prison uniform number. He returns to his cell after each foray into the outside world where he fights crime with the vigor and passion of a wronged man. His sentence is terminated abruptly when he is "killed" in one of his adventures. Such was his destiny!
