Hydroman

In 1940, scientist Harry Thurston develops a revolutionary chemical in his New York laboratory. Although it only consists of alcohol and water with a little sulfuric acid, the chemical causes a remarkable transformation when applied to human flesh--it turns it into water! Thurston calls his friend FBI agent Robert Blake to see his discovery. Bob hurries over only to have Dr. Thurston's assistant, Tom Kinsman, accidentally stumble and spill the chemical all over Bob Blake, turning him into a puddle of water. Though Bob can speak in this state, he remains liquid until Harry Thurston drenches him with a counteractive chemical turning him human again. He then suggests to Bob that if he injects the chemical directly into his bloodstream, Bob can, by sheer willpower, transform himself into water and back to a human state whenever he wishes. Bob agrees to this bizarre procedure in order get the goods on a bunch of Oriental thugs he has been chasing.

Rummaging through an old storage chest, Bob whips up a costumed identity to fight the criminals as Hydroman! Later, Hydroman acquires a suit made out of "translite," a bulletproof material. This uniform, combined with his earlier outfit, becomes his costume for all his remaining adventures. As Hydroman, he has the ability to change into living water, often entering places through water pipes, faucets, and other such fantastic avenues. Hydroman also can form waterspouts large enough to sink a ship or to transport him wherever he is needed.

Hydroman teams up with a young boy named Rainbow Boy (see individual entry) to battle crime on a few occasions. Outside of Harry Thurston and Tom Kinsman, only Bob Blake's girlfriend Joyce Church and Rainbow Boy know his secret identity. Hydroman has a fairly long crime-fighting and wartime career.
