| 4000 years ago in ancient Egypt of the Twelfth Dynasty, Prince Amentep, known as Ibis in honor of the sacred bird of his land, is imprisoned by his evil rival, a magician called the Black Pharaoh. Though Amentep has studied sorcery, his magic is not potent enough to overcome the Black Pharaoh's necromancy. While in his prison cell, a relative slips the good Prince Amentep the Ibistick, which can control any object or create whatever the user commands it to. Now armed with a magic sword and shield, created by the Ibistick, Ibis confronts the usurper of his rule, the Black Pharaoh, who is about to wed by force Ibis's fiancée, the beautiful Princess Taia of Thebes. Unfortunately, Taia is hit in the chest by an arrow during the showdown between Ibis and the Black Pharaoh. Thanks to a handy spell she does not die but sleeps for 40 centuries. Ibis uses the Ibistick to put himself in a trance as well, so he can be with her when she awakens! Wrapped up like a mummy, Ibis awakens in a prestigious museum in 20th century America. The mummy wrappings fall away, and Ibis now stands fully clothed in a tuxedo and opera cape with a turban upon his brow. Ibis's first thoughts are of Taia, and he soon sets sail for Europe, as it is there he senses his beloved Taia to be. Finding her mummy case on display, Ibis awakens Taia and together they start a new life in America! Ibis and Taia use the Ibistick to right wrongs wherever they encounter them. The Ibistick has great power in its jeweled top, enclosing the sacred bird of Egypt. While it cannot be used for evil purposes, the Ibistick's one weakness is that it fails against other magic. |
