Here is a brave female who dared
to stand up and be counted for her country. This is the profile on ...
Golden Girl |
| Betty Ross,
a WAC, FBI agent, and sometime girlfriend of Steve Rogers (Captain America,
see individual entry) hears with alarm that Bucky (see individual
entry), Cap's partner, has been shot by a female villain whom the pair were
trying to apprehend during a robbery. While Bucky is hospitalized, Captain
America is now without a partner. Taking a great risk, Captain America goes
to Betty Ross' apartment and reveals himself to be none other than Steve
Rogers, her boyfriend. The astonished Betty is even more surprised when
Captain America offers to train her as Bucky's replacement until he recovers.
She accepts, and the two go into intensive training over the next several
weeks. So good is Captain America's training that Betsy, now calling herself
Golden Girl (with a costume to match the name) is instrumental in
capturing the feminine villainess who shot Bucky. For several more adventures
Golden Girl serves as Captain America's partner and even teams up with Namora
and Sun Girl (see both individual entries) for one action-packed
adventure. Eventually though, Betty Ross retires her Golden Girl identity
and resumes a normal life as a simple government employee. |
