Editorial

Hello, gang. Welcome to Issue # 15 of Good Guys and Gals of the Golden Age. This issue is debuting later than we had told you it would. My moving has delayed my writing the text pieces, but, as you can see, it is all done now. However I will not be able to write any new stuff until I am resettled and can retrieve the vital items from storage to begin again. How long will this be? Probably at least 60 days or longer. But in the interim Darrin and Anthony will be bringing you that long-awaited TIMELY Special as of January 1st 2001. So I hope you enjoy this issue, which will remain up and running until the end of 2000 and that you join us in January 2001 for the spectacular Timely Special which will be online until the end of February. At that time we will return with Issue # 16 of the Good Guys and Gals of the Golden Age, and in the remaining months of 2001 you will see issues # 16 through 24. Thank you all for sticking around.

Now on to business: we have decided to remove our Alpha List/Time Lines/Wanted! sections of the site due to the unauthorized use of this information by other websites. To me, these actions amount to theft. One reason we work on this site is to provide information for you the viewer to scrutinize and inform us of any errors in the information. Of course, we also want to share our findings with you viewers to further our common love and knowledge of the Golden Age. But our work is not for other people to blatantly use and claim as their own. At this time I would like to thank Jess Nevins and Mikel Midnight, who were kind enough to ask for permission to use material from our site. Also I would like to point out two websites, Pure Excitement Comics by that fine gentleman Bill Nolan and the site called Golden Years, which have been kind enough to state publicly the source of part of the information used on their websites. Both are fine sites well worth checking out. Now should some of our viewers think that we are calling the kettle black, let us remind you that we have ALWAYS had a Reference/Source Section located on our site to show where we get our information. We feel it is important that we here at GGGGA show where and how we have obtained our information, and we feel it is only fair that others do the same. ‘Nuff said on this, OK?

Next up is the subject of CDs. We here at GGGGA have just completed the first three volumes of The Greats Of The Golden Age of Comics. These CDs reproduce texts from Golden Age comics at a price that almost anyone can afford. And let me tell you that Darrin has done an great job on these CDs! The scans are outstanding and measure up to the highest standards in GA reprint CD ROMs. Thanks go out to Darrin for a difficult job well done! Now I don't want to go off on a rant here, but…if you really love GOLDEN AGE COMICS and you love reprint CD ROMS then you MUST buy these to see the great works of the past for yourselves. And if you are curious about this fascinating time in comics’ history, you can explore it for much less than the cost of buying the original comics in today’s collectibles market. Now since you won't think us just greedy guys let me tell you what we are doing with the proceeds. We are going to use the funds to buy the needed books to finish up the last couple of hundred characters still remaining and have the most complete records on all superheroes worldwide from 1936 to 1960. So when we’re done, we can link it with the interactive database, built from our Alpha List/Time Lines/Wanted! information. And we owe a big thanks to Anthony Bernardo for devoting a lot of time to assembling this interactive database. Thank you, Anthony!

Which brings us to our next subject: our Need List. Please help us locate these last few books that we need and we will reward you by giving you any drawing you want that has been ever showcased on this site. We will be posting very soon a list of characters that have been featured on our site. Or you can just simply BUY our first volume and see for yourself what we have already done so far. We have a great deal going on right now that is linked with our first three CD ROM reprints. Check it out in our index section. We fans of the Golden Age should work to preserve in some fashion this wonderful time in comic book history. So help us out.

A word to our last winner in the "Create Your Own Golden Age Comic Book Character" contest. We apologize for not showcasing your entry so far, date but rest assured that we will very soon. Again we are sorry, but time has not been on our side all year long. Your entry will see the light of day-we promise! Also, we have had no winner in our "Mystery Guest" contest for last issue! The Mystery Guest featured appeared on the cover of LIBERTY COMICS; go check out your Gerber books! WHAT? You don't own the Gerber twin book set? My O my! Well, you can still obtain them from Gemstone Publishing which can be found online. These reference books are well worth the money! Anyway that is it for this month!

Check back with us in 2001 for our Timely Special and to see what’s going on with us. Meanwhile, you all have a happy Thanksgiving, happy December holidays and a great New Years’! Welcome to the 21st century, my friends; it should be a fun one! God bless you all and take care of yourselves. Bye 4 now! Poof!!!
