And now we move on to a more spiritual level of crime-fighting with our profile on...

The Green Lama

Heir to a large fortune, Jethro Dumont, while attending Harvard, becomes fascinated by Oriental religion. Upon graduation, Jethro travels to Tibet. For several years he studies and eventually becomes an ordained priest in the Lamaist sect of Buddhism. Jethro returns to America, where he takes an apartment on Park Avenue for himself and his Oriental valet, Tsarong. Although his "mission" is to spread the joys of meditation, he also fights crime as the Green Lama.

Originally, the Green Lama had modest superpowers: above-average strength, ventriloquism, mesmeric talents, and the ability to generate an electrical charge, thanks to his ingestion of radioactive salts. But later our hero finds a higher path and gains greater abilities when he utters the chant "Om ma-ni pad-me hum!" Then, power flows into the Green Lama, and he can fly, deflect bullets and artillery shells, snap chains with ease, and tug a yacht through the water while flying! Uttering the chant backwards returns the Green Lama to his normal self.
