Birdman
and Birdboy

    Roy Randall derives his amazing powers from the sun god Ra. Roy can store solar energy and transform this energy into super-strength, destructive sun-bolts, or an invisible force shield. Roy, armed with these abilities as well as wings that enable him to patrol the skies over Central City, becomes the superhero known as Birdman. When not fighting criminal masterminds like Vulturo, King Cumulus, or Reducto, the winged warrior can be found in his mountain hideout in an old volcano.

    One day Birdman and his eagle friend Avenger rescue an unnamed youth, who is the victim of a boating mishap caused by criminals. Birdman gives the dying boy a transfusion of his own blood, and this gift of life also gives the lad Birdman’s powers. Thus was born Birdboy. Fashioning a pair of wings for his new partner, Birdman, with Birdboy as his aide, goes on to fight the evils that beset the world. One man, Secret Operative Falcon 7, gives Birdman and Birdboy vital information on criminal fiends such as Nitron the Human Bomb and the Constrictor. On one occasion, Birdman is rendered helpless, and Falcon 7 calls upon the Galaxy Trio to come to Birdman's aid (see individual entry on the Galaxy Trio). The Trio heeds the call and saves the day while Birdman recovers.

    Birdman can be rendered helpless if he is kept in a dark enclosure or is cut off from the Sun's rays for to long a period of time, since he uses the Sun's rays to recharge his great powers.
