Some men will go to extraordinary lengths in the pursuit of justice, as did the subject of our next profile on... Lightning |
| Fred Larkin stands in a laboratory staring at the twin giant magnets on either side of him. He mounts the platform between the great magnets that carry opposite electro-magnetic charges. With the flick of a breaker switch a massive electrical current shoots into the two magnets, bathing Fred in the resulting maelstrom of electrons that dances about the room. Overcome by such forces, Fred slips into unconsciousness--and awakes as a new man! Private Fred Larkin, a general’s son and career soldier, is now the super-powered Lightning, America's newest superhero in the battle against tyranny and oppression. Fred has volunteered for this dangerous experiment that makes him the powerhouse that is Lightning. As Lightning, he can fire currents of hissing electricity from his fingers and fly by using the magnetic waves of the very planet itself! He is also endowed with great strength, swift speed, and wonderful agility. Usually confined to the home front, Lightning is always on the lookout for spies and saboteurs who threaten America's safety. But Lightning is not above fighting crime wherever he finds it. |
