| Fireman Ted Tyler is going into a laboratory, which has been set on fire by the Bug. Ted is knocked out by the arsonist and left to die. But, as fortune would have it, the unconscious Ted is bathed in a chemical that gives him the ability to control and even absorb fire. Deciding to become a crimefighter, "the sworn enemy of all those who would use fire for evil purposes," Ted Tyler becomes the Fireball and whips up a simple costume to do battle in. Ted also discovers that he can simply melt away any bullets fired at him. With his pyrotechnic abilities Fireball battles the drug smugglers and racketeers who plague the waterfront district that is his beat as a fireman. Ted Tyler of the Waterfront Fire Patrol protects innocent people from the crooks that would use this port of call to bring contraband into the USA. |

Unknown to his superiors, Dark
Avenger, Ted battles ceaselessly as the Fireball to keep such activities
from occurring on his watch. With the ability to ignite any object he
touches, Fireball is capable of hurtling flaming balls of fire or lightning
bolts of flame at his opponents.
