In 1948 the reign
of the supermen (and women) was coming to an end. In America, where
the concept had started, 1948 would see a little more than a handful
for new heroes—heroines actually. But overseas in Great Britain and
Australia, they were just hitting their peak year, and in Canada a few
new characters would debut over the next three years. By 1950, there
would be no known superheroes to debut in America. The end had come
by then, and this was the bottom year for American mystery-men. These
then are the years 1948-1950.
