Oftentimes, many a man or woman
just fights the forces of evil with nothing more than determination and
a knowing smile. Midnight |
|
1941 Dave Clark, radio announcer for station UXAM, doffs his guise as an ordinary American to become Midnight and fight crime in his city when the inky blackness of night descends. Midnight has aides in a reformed villain, the bearded Doc Wackey (who once used a formula that turned adults into babies), Gabby a pet talking monkey, and a small trouble-prone white bear Hotfoot (who belongs to the humorous detective Sniffer Snoop). They all communicate with two-way wrist radios, since Midnight is fond of gadgets. His favorite weapon is his secret vacuum gun, a pistol that throws a suction cup connected to a self-winding reel of fine silk cord strong enough to hold a man's weight. Midnight is equally at home in battling urban crime and corruption, where mobsters prey on whole cities, and in tackling the deadly supernatural, where magicians can walk through walls or melt people into puddles of slimy ooze. Midnight goes on fighting crime for several years before disappearing into the darkness of night. |
