Here we look at two publishers that appear to be complete opposites but are surprisingly similar in their approach to comics. First is Fawcett line and, then, Centaur Publications, one of the originators of the genre. Fawcett Fawcett was another family-run business and one of the most successful publisherss of the Golden Age, often tying with, if not beating out, DC (National-AA) and Quality Comics as the top-sellers. These three companies often rotated in the number-one position in any given month. Characters that we need text and visual information on: Atom Blake, Boy Wizard Black Phantom = text Characters we do have information on: Bulletgirl
Centaur Publishing Run by "Uncle Joe" Hardy, Centaur was one of the first comic book publishers to hit the stands with "new" comics, as opposed to reprints of newspaper strips. But, ironically, Centaur ceased publishing just prior to the comic boom brought on by World War II, which almost guaranteed print run sellouts. Centaur offered an eclectic cast of characters.
