For our final entry this month, we offer you the profile on... Stuntman |
![]() |
| In 1946, Fred Drake is one of the three Flying Apollos, acrobats and co-owners of the Bandmaster Circus. When Drake’s partners are killed in a trapeze accident, Fred Drake suspects foul play. While searching for clues, Fred Drake bumps into movie star Don Daring and marvels at the uncanny resemblance that the two share. Daring offers Drake a job as his stunt double (since the conceited Don Daring is a would-be amateur sleuth), and Fred accepts. Continuing his investigation after work, Fred disguises himself in a modified version of his Flying Apollo outfit. Now calling himself Stuntman, Fred learns that it was the Bandmaster Circus manager, another partner, who had arranged the accident that killed his two friends in order to gain control of the circus. Pleased with the results, Fred Drake decides to continue his career as Stuntman. Possessing nothing more than his natural acrobatic and athletic skills, plus his great deductive abilities, Stuntman uses these attributes to battle crime wherever he encounters it. |

Also, Fred Drake would have been
joined by Stuntwoman (actress Sandra Sylvan) and her little brother
as Stuntboy (see individual entries for both), but due to certain
unfortunate circumstances these exploits were never recorded.
