Hi, Folks:

I find the "Good Guys & Gals of the Golden Age" to be a  wonderful, wonderful site and a great addition to the online comic book community.
There is a vast amount of valuable information on this site and the accompanying illustrations of the various GA characters are quite nice.
It is certainly obvious that a lot of hard work went into the design & construction of this site; it is set up very well and is very easy to navigate through.
I am sure that I will return to this site many times in the future as it looks to be a fun and valuable research tool.

Best of luck with this massive undertaking.

Regards,
Kris Brownlow

A hello to you Kris,

We designed this site with ease of use and understanding in mind and it is gratifying to find you found it easy to navigate through. Come back as often as you like, and stay tuned, as every month will have lots of new info!

Hello,

Have just reviewed your site and enjoyed it very much. Also appreciated your listing of AC Comics/Paragon Publications materials in your listing of references and your inclusion of our sites on your links page. Will make an effort to get a link to your site from our G-A Reprints site's LINK listings very soon.

Again, nice job.
Rebekah Black

Thank you, Rebekah,

It is indeed an honor to hear that you like our site and that you enjoyed what you viewed. We have been a big admirer of You and your husband Bill, (& all the great AC guys!) and the wonderful work produced by your company over the years. Not to mention AC's commitment to preserving the past through your reprint titles, which we share that need to preserve and record what great treasures the golden age has to offer us still today, over 50 years later. Count yourselves as an inspiration to us, to create this site.

I was really impressed with the new site. The format is excellent and the art is very good. I was a little dismayed to see that Alias the Spider's little known super power was overlooked. If you read several of his stories you'll notice that he seems to have the power to attract bullets. I swear, I've never seen a hero get shot more than that guy. It seemed like every other issue he took a bullet. Anyways, I can help you with quite a few of your Quality wants and I've got some obscure stuff recently (do you have Rex Kings original costume, Tigerman, King of Darkness, Blue Lady, Nightshade, or Electric Ray?). Unfortunately, I still don't have a convenient way of getting it to you. As soon as I have reasonable access to a scanner, I'll get 'em out to you. Several of the characters you list fall short of being mystery men. Spitfire for example was just a pilot and Cyclone was a sci-fi strip.  I'll try to get you a more complete info list when I have a little more time. Let me know when you do an update. Talk to you later.

A good day to you Paris!

Thank you for responding so quickly to the site. Sorry to hear your dismayed at the lack of mention of that particular ability. But I think that in general, most "good guys" get shot a lot, or at least constantly being shot at as part of the trade. Some are more bullet prone than others. I like the list you've provided and to answer your offers: Rex King, man of adventure! yes -Tigerman, yes -King of Darkness (or is that Duke of Darkness?) maybe -BLue Lady, no -Nightshade and the Electric Ray,  yes most definitely. I remember a color photo in Jeff Roven's "Encyclopedia of Super Heroes" (color section between page 356 and 357) that showed the Quality SpitFire as having long blonde hair, a short black moustache, a red cape, a blue tunic with blue boots and yellow gloves and tights. He didn't look like a pilot to me but... Whenever you get around to sending us the info, is certainly up to your time and convenience, but just remember to put in your request list for who you want for character drawings. Once again, thanks for stopping by, but make sure you sign our guest book so we can notify you when the site updates.

Hi.

Nice start to your page, I enjoyed going through it and found it very informative. Just two suggestions:
If possible, I would like to be able to link to your sub-pages; I have, for example, a Lev Gleason page and it'd be nice to link from my Silver Streak page to yours. But if you want to preserve the alphabetical order, you'll have to change the page_1 etc type names ... it just seems really awkward, as won't you be having to rename everything all the time anyway?
You also may want to consider breaking the entries down by company. It doesn't matter now with only a dozen heroes, but if you keep going things will become unmanageable.
Also, there are other pages which offer pretty definitive entries on DC and Timely characters. Unless you plan to outdo David Stepp's Comics Archives entries on the JSA, or Jess Nevin's Timely characters entries, I think it would make your page much more unique if you focussed on more obscure companies (or more obscure characters from the major companies, like Nadir Master of Magic). There is no point in having lots of web pages duplicating the same info.

Nevertheless, I look forward to future entries.
Michael

Hi Michael,

I'm glad you wrote. I have found your page to be very informative and have enjoyed your entries. As you've seen, we're highlighting characters from all companies from around the world circa 1936 to 1960. As each month ends, these 15 profiles will go away and the next 15 will pop up the next month and so on. So you see, it wouldn't be possible to link up to any one profile for more than 30 days.
What will happen to the previous month? Trust us, as all the entries will be saved for a future project, which will go in a different direction than this one is going in.
I realize that there are dozens of other websites out there that cover the same ground that we do and they probably cover it better too and as such, when we do a character like Starman in this issue, we give the basic info and no more, as there are much better and more indepth bio's out there as I've already said. The lesser known will get a more extensive coverage, as not as much has been done with them. Look at this as an expedition to gather ALL the good guys and gals in one spot, sort of a grand database that can be accessed forever and contains everyone, not just the best known, or the most obscure, but all of them, by alpha, crossed referenced by company and by a timeline and other ways to cross reference. You'll see the basic structure for all this here at our website. No one to date has done this, all you get are bits and pieces here and there, but not all of it. That is our end goal and that will be a long, long way away.
Meanwhile enjoy what is offered ever month as there is a lot of ground to cover. You can help us out by continuing to offer the excellent information found on your site, as I go there often to see what's new and if your so inclined, to share with us any information you may have, for future use on our site, After all this is a "reader participant site" and we encourage participation by offering a drawing of your favorite golden age character for every entry you can supply to us and which you will be credited for supplying on our site. Once again thanks for writing.
